This is not how we were supposed to go to Paris. We were supposed to dance under the stars.

Francis' Funeral is an event that was held in Season Three in the episode In a Clearing.

It was held so that everyone could come to bid the King farewell. Francis died from head trauma after he saved Mary from a gang of assassins.

During the Event[]

At French Court, the people have come to bid farewell to their beloved King. Mary is approached by Narcisse, who informs her that Francis' assassin got away; he further reveals that the remaining gang member is part of a radical sect of Scottish Lords, who plotted her demise after the death of her mother, Marie de Guise. Mary asks if he can get any more information out of him, and when Narcisse says no, Mary commands that the man be hanged. Bash places the sword and crown on his brother's coffin, and then listens as Mary tells him that this isn't the way she and Francis were supposed to go to Paris and they were supposed to dance under the stars.

A guard soon comes up to Mary and says that it is custom for the Queen of France to ride in the first carriage; however with tears in her eyes, Mary shakes her head as she says that she is no longer the Queen of France.

Queen Catherine is also in tears as she mourns the loss of her son. She talks with Nostradamus about possibly returning to French Court, but Nostradamus insists that he is not staying and despite Catherine's pleas that she needs his help to fight Narcisse for the Regency to protect her son; Nostradamus prophesizes that only with the help of Mary will she be able to rule France. Catherine's old friend then wishes her long life, God willing, and leaves court for good.

Finally after everyone is in the carriages, the procession to the burial site begins to leave the courtyard as Mary walks behind her husband's coffin.
