John Prevo to Mary Stuart in Higher Ground

John Prevo was the mercenary that Mary Stuart hired to get money from Catherine de' Medici to save her mother. He made his first and only appearance in Higher Ground.

He was portrayed by Canadian actor Tahmoh Penikett.

Season OneEdit

In Higher Ground, He meet Mary Stuart, she tells him that she needs him to find Catherine de' Medici's secret stash of gold. He tells her he'll have the gold in two days and tells Mary she doesn't want the details of how he'll accomplish this. Later when Catherine in confession with the priest he kidnaps her. He later listens to Catherine as she tries to guess who's taken her and why.

At night he meets Mary in the cellar and argues with Mary about his strategies. He tells her that Catherine offered him double what Mary did to cut of the head of the person responsible. But reassures Mary that he wouldn't be successful in his line of work if he would turn so easily. He tells Mary that she needs to choose someone so he can cut off their head and deliver it to Catherine won't she won't suspect Mary did it. The next day he delivers the head of Cortenza de' Medici to Catherine so she would believe she did it. Before he leaves court Mary hires him to lead a group of men to Scotland to save Mary's mother.


John is a determined man who will go to any length to get the job done. He also has a certain amount of greed and a clinical approach to kill people for money.

Physical AppearanceEdit

John is a tall man presumably in his late thirties. He has dark brown hair and blue eyes. He dressed in all black clothing that was simple.
